2009 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The Choir awards three designated types of scholarships, they are:

The Rod Rahn Memorial Scholarship that is based on the proceeds of a generous endowment by the family of the late Rod Rahn, one of the three founding directors of the choir who also included Anne Stolz and Sherman Leatherberry, over 20 years ago;

The Harriet Calhoun Memorial Keyboard Scholarship funded by donations in memory of the mother of Anne Stolz, who was a dedicated church musician and teacher, and

The Oconomowoc Community Choir Scholarships that come from the general donations to the scholarship fund and from revenue generated by the concerts we sing.

All recipients were awarded OCC Scholarships except where otherwise noted.

ERNEST BRUSUBARDIS IV has "no other wish but to be a musician, and to help teach others to be musicians." He will be attending UW-Milwaukee this fall, where he has been studying violin with Dr. Bernard Zinck. Among his many accomplishments are playing with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and the UW-Milwaukee Honors Orchestra.

KRISTIAN BRUSUBARDIS has completed his sophomore year of studies. He has been studying piano and violin since he was 4 years old. His goal is to become a professional solo violinist. Kristian states, "Music is the easiest way I can express myself." Kristian has played with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, and will be soloing with the Waukesha Symphony in its 2009-2010 season.

Your donations make scholarships possible. Thank you.

Thank You For The Music!

Anne Stolz is a native of West Allis, Wisconsin. She is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Music Education. She has taught private piano and voice for more than 30 years. She has been the director of music for First Congregational Church in Oconomowoc for more than 20 years. She was one of the original three directors of the Community Choir when it was begun 21 years ago. This concert will be a farewell to Anne Stolz as director. She is leaving the Choir to allow more time for herself to enjoy her grandchildren and the rest of her busy life. The Choir will sorely miss her artistic direction and leadership that the choir and you, our returning audience, has so enjoyed for all of these years. Her work for this choir has been ceaseless and she has been so very dedicated and hardworking to achieve the goals of this choir that we can never express all of our gratitude.

The choir invites all prior members join us in singing "A River in Judea" together as a farewell to Anne. There will also be a reception for Anne after the concert. Please come and visit with Anne and the choir and share some old memories and make some new friends.

Thanks everyone and anyone who made this concert possible. Special thanks to Becky Zelm, our accompanist; the Stevens family for sound and lights; the scholarship winners for sharing their talents with us; members of the choir for their dedication all these years; the First Congregational Church for use of this wonderful facility; all of our Patrons, Friends and Sponsors for their donations to the Scholarship fund; and to all of the members of our audience for supporting us by their presence. And,

Thank You For 21 Years of Music, Anne!
